泰國 eSIM: questions and answers
Does the 泰國 eSIM work on my phone?+
Most phones sold since 2019 support eSIM, including iPhone XR and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Dial *#06#: if you see an EID line, your phone supports eSIM. The phone must be carrier-unlocked.
When does my 泰國 plan start?+
Validity starts the first time the plan carries data in 泰國, not when you buy it. You can buy days or weeks before you travel.
Do I need a new QR code for every plan?+
No. You install the Avena eSIM once. Every plan you buy later, for 泰國 or any other destination, is added to that same eSIM automatically.
Can I use the eSIM as a hotspot?+
Yes. Hotspot and tethering are allowed on every Avena plan at no extra cost.
Do I need to show a passport or ID?+
No. Avena plans need no passport, no ID upload and no registration with a local operator.
Which networks does the 泰國 eSIM use?+
In 泰國 the Avena eSIM uses DTAC (5G). Speeds depend on local coverage.
Can I keep my own number?+
Yes. The Avena eSIM is data only. Your regular SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts; turn off its mobile data abroad to avoid roaming charges.
What happens when my data runs out?+
Buy another plan in the app or on this site. It lands on the same eSIM in seconds and starts right away.
Can I get a refund?+
A plan that has never carried data can be refunded to your Avena wallet from the order page. Used plans are not refundable.
How do I install the eSIM?+
After your first purchase the app installs the eSIM in two taps on iOS 17.4 and newer and on Android. You can also scan a QR code or enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.
Does the eSIM work in other countries too?+
The 泰國 plan works in 泰國. For several countries, pick a regional plan or the Global plan; it goes on the same eSIM.
How do I pay?+
Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe, or your Avena wallet balance. Prices are in US dollars.
