Turkey is one of the most popular eSIM destinations. A few things are worth knowing before you go.
Will my phone work in Turkey?
Any eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone works. Check with *#06#: if you see an EID, your phone supports eSIM. See the device list.
The 120 day rule for foreign phones
Turkey registers phones by IMEI. A phone brought in by a visitor can use Turkish networks for a limited time (commonly cited as 120 days) without local IMEI registration. For a normal holiday or business trip this does not affect you. If you plan to stay longer, check the current rules with the Turkish authority (BTK) before you travel.
How much data do I need?
- Maps, messaging and some browsing: about 1 GB per week
- Daily social media and photos: 3 to 5 GB per week
- Video calls, streaming or hotspot for a laptop: 10 GB or more, or an unlimited daily plan
Which plan?
Avena's Turkey plans are listed on the Turkey eSIM page with the price per GB, so you can compare sizes at a glance. Validity starts on first use in Turkey.
Already have Avena from another trip? The Turkey plan goes on your existing eSIM, no new QR.
Visiting more than Turkey?
If your trip continues to Greece or the Balkans, a regional plan can cover several countries on one package. Compare on the destinations page.
