Installing an eSIM takes about a minute. You need an internet connection (Wi-Fi is fine) while you install.
Option 1: one tap (iPhone with iOS 17.4 or newer, Android)
In the Avena app, open My eSIM and tap Add Now. Your phone opens its own eSIM screen. Confirm, wait a few seconds, done.
Option 2: scan a QR code
On the web, open your order and show the QR code on another screen.
- iPhone: Settings › Cellular › Add eSIM › Use QR Code
- Android: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs › Add eSIM, then scan
The phone that scans the code is the one that gets the eSIM.
Option 3: enter the details manually
If you cannot scan, copy the SM-DP+ address and the activation code from your order.
- iPhone: Settings › Cellular › Add eSIM › Use QR Code › Enter Details Manually
- Android: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs › Add eSIM › Need help? › Enter it manually
The step everyone forgets: Data Roaming
Once you land, turn on Data Roaming for the Avena line:
- iPhone: Settings › Cellular › your Avena line › Data Roaming
- Android: Settings › Network & internet › SIMs › your Avena line › Roaming
Your plan covers it, there are no extra charges. Keep roaming off on your regular SIM.
